Do use eBay? PayPal? you better be very careful about how much information you give them.
No, I did not say avoid them. I said be careful. I have them as do millions of happy users. But watch out. Neither of these companies are covered by the same government rules that apply to banks. So there is a risk of losing some money and your privacy when sing the two mentioned on-line operations.
I once sold this teddy bead on eBay. No problem at all. So, I am not saying you will have a problem. Just be careful and use common sense. If an item on the auction site looks to be too good to be true, it might be that the seller is not being very honest.
About Pay Pay. The want information about your bank account. Watch out. You may want to talk to your bank and find out how you can protect yourself. One thing you might do is open a new account just for your ob-line shopping. Perhaps even with a different bank. Otherwise there is the small bur real possibility that some criminal body could get funds from you bank account without your knowledge. If you keep a very low balance in the new account, that criminal will not get much money.
The point here is this: Your local bank has people you can go talk with and the can help you. Do not expect that from any kind of on-line company. The on-line companies will put your on hold and even then will only give you a short reading from a script.
Did I say this is only about eBay and PayPal? No, this also would apply to Amazon and all the other on line vendors. But pay pal radially annoys me because the want my bank information. Once you let anybody have you banking information, you are at risk for of being robbed by some persons breaks into the security of the on-line firm. It does happen.
